Food stories is a testament to the memories behind the meals, with the intention of bringing social connection back to the table.
Whilst working on organic farms across the UK, Europe and Nepal, I shared many meals with fellow travellers in various cosy farm kitchens. We often spent a lot of time during our working day thinking about the produce we were tending to and what delicious delicacies we could make it into later on. Most evenings were spent in the kitchen, listening to music or drinking wine whilst preparing vegetables freshly picked from the field. The role of cooking was shared between volunteers and hosts, exchanging recipes, tips or methods. Over dinner there would often be alot of chat about food politics, eating seasonally and well, how good organic butter is. Food Stories is a collection of recipes inspired by my time on these farms and a tribute to the social culture of sharing a meal with those who matter.
